Andrea Agnelli says Juventus “only exist to win” but warns Italy risks losing prestige if its European performance does not improve.
Juve have won six Serie A titles in succession and reached two Champions League Finals in the last three seasons, whereas no other Italian club have managed to accomplish anything close to the Bianconeri in that time.
“Juve only exist to win,” the President said at the Chamber of Deputies in Rome.
“I don’t say it with arrogance but rather ambition. Our opponents also think the same way.
“These men make the difference: without Marotta, Nedved and Paratici, nothing would’ve been possible. The group makes the difference.
“Italy must be watchful of its UEFA ranking because we risk losing fourth position: in the 2019-2020 campaign, we risk being fifth in Europe.
“Football’s grown a lot, but the rules are still the same as those in the 1950s. The NFL is the example that football should follow.
“2010-11 was the worst financial year in Juve’s history, but we started again from there.
“Humility and dedication are the underlying principles of our history. Now we want to make it seven, eight Scudetti in a row.”
